The liberal Western language of Human Rights has dominated the discourse to the exclusion of any and all other épistémologies. The question now is: is there an alternative understanding of human dignity enshrined in a different language? Freedom of religion has been seen by Western thinkers to be void within the system of the Sharia. Is this really the case?
